We provide an extensive training schedule which is mandated by the military and CASARA National. All new members start by taking a Spotter training course, which takes approximately 3 hours. This is followed up by 2 training flights in a CASARA aircraft, at which time you would become a qualified CASARA spotter! To remain being a qualified spotter, one has to take a refresher course once a year. There is also spotter training available to fly in military search aircraft. We also provide a 4 Hour navigation training course, related to the various types of search patterns that we fly. For licensed pilots, one must have completed a 5 hour pilot course, along with having at least 150 hours total time (pilot in command) and 50 hours on type. You must be a certified spotter to become a navigator and you must be a certified navigator to become a pilot. In the event of an actual search, all training is put on hold until the search has ended.
Check out our events calendar and join us at anytime to meet the crew. Registration and membership is required to be a member of CASARA, with the cost being $20.00 per (fiscal) year. For more information please call 403-308-2883
